Oops. I forgot to add the carpenter story. (01)
Here it is: (02)
I had a friend who was in the business of buying
houses and fixing them up. From time to time,
he would need a carpenter to come in and help with
some of the changes to the houses. (03)
When a guy would come by to inquire about the possiblity
of the job, he would talk to him about what he
was working on and how it was going. But as he
was doing this, he would hand the prospective
carpenter a hand full of nails all in random orientation. (04)
And while he was talking , he would watch what the
prospective carpenter would do with the nails. (05)
If he was a professional, experienced carpenter,
he would unconciously organize the nails so that
they would all face the same way, and then
tuck them safely in his apron. (06)
The amatuer will take the nails and stash them in
a corner, but will not take the time to groom them. (07)
As a professional system administrator, you need
to be grooming the tools that come by you. (08)
As a professional collaborator, what things are
the objects which you are unconsciously grooming? (09)
