What do you mean by "use"? Do you mean that people won't generate
purple numbers for their own content, or that they simply won't use
them, even if they are available?    (03)

Please, remind me of what that history is.    (05)

I'm in favor of blue sky discussion. I'm also in favor of working out
some of the issues that need to be worked out.    (07)

I'm not so thrilled about blue sky discussion without the advantage of
experience. The original title of this thread was, "eating our own
dogfood." I want to encourage others to try other people's dogfood,
so that they can make comments and push the evolution of these tools
based on experience _using_ these tools.    (08)

I also want to encourage contributions to this space in refactored
form, as opposed to or in addition to emails to this list. That
means, take the ideas, and refactor them into a paper, or at minimum,
a Wiki or blog entry. One of the original ideas for this
collaboratory was to establish a community library of papers written
by members of this group. This is something I'd still like to do, but
I don't want to be the only one writing papers.    (09)

If a group of you want to write a paper discussing the problems with
the current implementation of purple numbers and suggest ideas for
improving them, I would highly encourage that. If a group of you want
to lead a purple number standardization effort, with the intention of
generating an "official" spec, I would fully support and participate
in that.    (010)

Don't wait for the group to come to some agreement on some group
project. If you see a way to improve something or the need to improve
something, contribute by _improving_ it. That, too, is collaboration.    (011)
