I'm an active lurker on tools-yak, though I wish I interacted more. So I
signed up mainly to see what you all would talk about, and with the
intention of jumping in if I had something to say.

I guess I didn't read closely enough the introductory material as I
wasn't aware of the intention of forced participation. While I like the
idea of rounds and e-mail notification I did not appreciate being
limited to what I could or should respond to. Maybe this makes sense in
an academic setting to force participation, but I found it very off-putting.

For this specific instance I wish the periods had been longer, but that
may be mostly due to me being busy wrapping up my first week of work at
a new job. Also, if such a system where to go into wider use, I'd like
to see it make greater use of e-mail, possibly offering an e-mail only
mode for those who prefer it.
